Welcome to another session of Flyleaf Talks About Stuff, where we dive into all the enriching experiences and opportunities that make life so rewarding. Today is a special day for us at Flyleaf Counseling, as we celebrate seven incredible years of helping individuals and couples heal, grow, and transform. Join us as we reflect on our journey and share some exciting updates and insights into the work we do.
Reflecting on Our Journey
Stefanie and Kim here, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to mark our seventh year since Flyleaf Counseling opened its doors. Although the demands of daily life sometimes keep us from reflecting, moments like this remind us of how far we have come. Our focus has always been on growing together as clinicians and investing in ourselves and our clients, which has truly paid off in developing our craft and expanding our reach.
Our Niche and Expertise
For those unfamiliar with what we do, our expertise lies in three key areas: process addictions, trauma, and infidelity and betrayal recovery. We approach addiction by focusing on behavioral aspects like gambling and gaming, shifting the focus from substances to patterns of behavior. In trauma, we explore both the small, often overlooked traumas (small T) and the large, life-altering ones (big T), acknowledging that healing requires understanding both. Lastly, we work with couples to navigate the complex journey of infidelity recovery, creating a nurturing space for healing and reconciliation.
Innovations in Healing
As we look forward to the coming years, we are excited to announce new additions to our practices. We are incorporating innovative treatments like microdosing ketamine therapy and expanding our use of Reiki. At Flyleaf, we believe that healing the mind begins with healing the body. Drawing from core philosophies in trauma work, such as those presented in “The Body Keeps the Score,” we focus on bottom-up healing techniques to address how trauma manifests physically and emotionally.
Collaborative Approach
Our unique approach is rooted in collaboration. Often, we work in teams of therapists, ensuring that clients benefit from multiple perspectives and skills. We employ a variety of techniques, constantly refilling our toolboxes with new methods from continuing education. Whether through individual sessions or conjoint therapy, we tailor our approach to meet each client’s needs.
Growth, Gratitude, and Moving Forward
Looking back, our hearts are full of gratitude for the trust and vulnerability our clients have shown us. We’ve had the privilege of walking alongside them as they share their stories and embark on their healing journeys. We aim to continue providing a safe and transformative space for growth. As we gear up for the next year, our goal is to introduce more flexible scheduling to better accommodate the unique needs of every person who seeks our help.
